Nikolai Levichev had a meeting with a delegation of the Syrian opposition 26 августа 2015 Nikolai Levichev, Vice-Chairman of the State Duma had a meeting with the Syrian opposition delegation headed by Ali Haidar, Minister of State on National Reconciliation Affairs. The meeting was participated by Alexander Romanovich, deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Party A JUST RUSSIA Central Council on Foreign Affairs. Nikolai Levichev said that an attempt of interference into the domestic affairs of Syria made by the Western states is a dead-end track which has already led to disastrous consequences. The State Duma passed a resolution saying that Russia does not support any of the parties to the conflict. "We are against any interference into the domestic affairs of the sovereign state. People of Syria "must be masters" of their fate," Nikolai Levichev stressed. According to the politician, Russia will in every way contribute into establishing of the negotiation process between various public and political forces in Syria for the early resolution of the conflict. The Syrian delegation members stated a well-reasoned and pragmatic position of Russia regarding the resolution of the Middle East crisis. According to Ali Haidar, all people of Syria, no matter which ethnos, confession and political movement they belong to, have been suffering from the combat actions. The Syrian politicians expressed their confidence that the Russian colleagues will become their allies in restoration of peace in Syria as soon as possible.
