Nikolai Levichev stressed that the Russian Federation and IRI have established close relations over the last years. In particular, success has been achieved in the military and technical cooperation and in the oil-gas sphere. "Soon, we will be able to speak about a new power geopolitics with participation of the two countries," the parliamentarian emphasized. Both parties discussed the events in the Middle East, in particular, the civil wars in Syria and Yemen. Alaeddin Boroujerdi declared that the IRI authorities do not divide terrorists into good and bad ones, neither admit they the policy of double standards dictated by the USA. Nikolai Levichev stressed the coincidence of the positions of Russia and Iran regarding the issues of establishment of peace and security in the Middle East region, in particular, about the necessity to combat terrorists from ISIS,. According to him, there is an increasing interest in Iran in the Russian society. An interregional cooperation in the economic, humanitarian and cultural spheres is actively developing. "Turn of Russia to the East during the last year began to take real features. Lifting of the sanctions against Iran expected this summer, will open broad opportunities for strengthening of the joint positions of Russia and Iran not only in the Middle East but also in the Asian and Pacific region (in general)," Nikolai Levichev said. The participants of the meeting agreed to support and extend contacts between the official representatives of the two countries and foster strengthening of relations between the peoples of Russia and Iran.
