A letter to Sergey Mironov from Jean-Marc Germain, an International Secretary of Parti socialiste 26 января 2015 To Sergei Mironov Chairman of the Political Party A Just Russia Dear comrades, We have been deeply touched by your messages of sympathy, and we thank you for the support and friendliness you expressed regarding the terrorist attack against our people; first against the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo (12 died in the first attack), then against a young policewoman who was murdered the following morning, and eventually against a kosher supermarket. Four of our Jewish fellow citizens were the victims of barbarious acts and found death there. France was wounded at its heart, and is grieving today. Charlie Hebdo has always embodied the fight against human foolishness and all forms of obscurantism, may a sincere tribute be paid to them. France has always stood for the values of democracy and freedom of expression. Today, as democrats, we all have to keep on defending these values and fighting against extremism. 4 million people gathered on Sunday, January, 11th in France to march against terrorism and for the values that the Republic embodies, for the Rule of Law and freedom of the press. We would like to warmly thank all party leaders and officials who joined us for the march for their support, and those who marched at the same time, in their own countries, gathering more than 100,000 people abroad. It is our collective responsibility to strengthen international cooperation in the fight against terrorism and to defend the universal values that were attacked, while many countries and people around the world are facing the threats and attacks of extremist groups. With our fraternal greetings, Jean-Marc Germain, International Secretary International Department Parti socialiste
