Sergey Mironov: "I do not believe Mr. Poroshenko."

13 îêòÿáðÿ 2014

At a briefing held at the State Duma, Chairman of Party A JUST RUSSIA and the Leader of the State Duma party faction Sergey Mironov commented the agenda of the forthcoming State Duma plenary week and answered the reporters’ questions.

The parliamentarian stressed the necessity of finalizing the draft law on Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property. He said that in principle, the law is satisfactory, and the faction supports it. Nevertheless, having considered all the aspects of the document and in particular, the remarks made by Alexey Kovalyov, a deputy of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assemblyá the A JUST RUSSIA çarty found it necessary to finalize the law section regulating transportation of the objects of archaeological excavations.

Besides that, the parliamentarian mentioned ‘the round table’ on discussion of the draft law on municipal militia developed by the deputies of the A JUST RUSSIA faction that was to take place at the State Duma on Thursday.

Talking about yesterday’s resignation of the Minister of Defense Valery Geletey, Sergey Mironov said that it would not save Mr. Geletey from responsibility for the committed military crimes.

"These people have completely manifested their ‘generalship’ taking part in the reprisal raid against their own people. In my opinion, a criminal investigation opened against Mr. Galetey, Chief of General Staff, and the other figures of the Kiev Junta will play its role in due time, and sooner or later we’ll see these persons (including also Mr. Poroshenko) on trial of the international tribunal.

The politician reminded of the odious statement made by the ex-minister of defense of Ukraine about the so-called use of nuclear weapons by Russia against the Ukrainian army. Mr. Mironov cited a Ukrainian proverb which is translated as "he can’t breathe without lying".

Answering a reporter’s question about how they might get the deserved punishment, and how they might find themselves standing trial, the parliamentarian made a supposition that the cold winter would have a sobering influence.

"I don’t believe Mr, Poroshenko. I don’t believe he will pay for the gas, and I don’t believe his so-called truce because there is going on dislocation of the Ukrainian troops," Sergey Mironov said. "Military actions will resume either just before the elections or after them. They will (all the same) make attempts to choke off the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics."

The citizens of Ukraine seem to have been under hypnosis so far," said Mr. Mironov. "But as soon as the winter comes, nobody will provide them help (including the European Union), and their awakening will start."

He is sure that "keeping the people of Ukraine in the state of a victorious war is the target of propaganda and the Verkhovna Rada deputies. "At present they are practicing their militancy and wittiness regarding Russia and the militants but I’m sure that once the real war losses become known, many things will change."

According to the politician, a Western Ukraine representative at the Verkhovna Rada submitted interesting statistics: half a year ago 99% of the residents of Ukraine had a negative perception of Russia, now the figures have decreased up to 50%. As the politician explained, the coffins that were delivered from the eastern regions of Ukraine contributed to it, as well as a difficult social and economic state, and an annoying lie they have been telling day after day.

"The main question the people of Ukraine will ask their rulers is what they have done and how independent they are, for example, from the United States," Mr. Mironov said.

According to the politician, appearance of such questions will become a prologue of the future international investigation of the events in the south-east of Ukraine.
