Sergey Mironov: Ukraine will not survive without Russian gas 13 октября 2014 Segey Mironov, Chairman of Party A JUST RUSSIA and the Head of the State Duma party faction took place in Channel I program "Tolstoy. The Resurrection" devoted to the forthcoming talks on the Russian gas supplies to Ukraine. The parliamentarian specified that Ukraine is actually facing two gas problems: one is gas for Ukraine itself and the other – Russian gas transit abroad. "Europe is very worried; it has resorted to outright pressure on Kiev demanding it pay for the gas," he said. "Pointing at the Southern Stream, Europe says $385 per 1,000 cubic meters (m3) is a very good price." However, the politician thinks that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko only pretends to be making attempts to reach some agreement while it is just necessary to pay off debts and regularly pay for the gas in the future. "Moreover, people of Ukraine themselves push him into making a decision; they don’t want him to pretend that it’s possible to do without Russian gas. Ukraine won’t survive without Russian gas," Mr. Mironov said. Making comments on overthrow of the monuments in Ukraine which (according to the opinions of the program participants) must distract attention of the people of Ukraine from the gas problem, Sergey Mironov specified that such actions also manifest impotent rage of the Kiev authorities. "Why are they fighting against monuments in Ukraine?" asked Sergey Mironov a rhetorical question. It’s because they have lost in Malorossia, and because the Kiev junta met with a resolute rebuff. Their rage and powerlessness make them fight against monuments because they can’t defeat the nation. ". The politician stressed again that Petro Poroshenko can’t be trusted. "To our regret, he has demonstrated that telling lies is characteristic of him, and another thing is that he can’t take an independent line," emphasized the A JUST RUSSIA Chairman. "The key to the gas problem solution may be found either in Brussels or in Washington, and everyone must realize it."
