Nikolai Levichev and Alexander Romanovich had a meeting with a delegation of young Indian politicians, politologists and experts 06 октября 2014 State Duma Deputy Chairman Nikolai Levichev, Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Alexander Romanovich and Alexey Spivakov, the Secretary of the A Just Force youth movement received a delegation of young Indian politicians, politologists and foreign affairs experts. The Indian delegation included Danandjan Tripaty, an officer of the Foreign Relations Department of the Institute of South Asian Problems, Radzhorshy Roi, an expert of the Department of Europe and Eurasia of the Institute of Strategic Studies in Delhi, Bhumika Bakshi, a representative of a youth wing of Bharatiya Janata Party, and Oomen Chandi, the leader of the youth wing of the Indian National Congress Party and others. Nikolai Levichev told the guests that India was not only a remote and mysterious country from the Russian point of view, but also a glamorous one. "Even now at school, we read Afanasy Nikitin’s The Journey Beyond Three Seas written over five hundred years ago," said the parliamentarian. He also confessed that the Indian civilization is of a huge interest to him. "I am very glad that representatives of a younger generation of India feel (in their turn) an active and genuine interest to the RF. You are lucky to live in a unique epoch when dominance of the West on the international arena is finished. There exists a stereotype that the Western civilization (in particular Great Britain) brought a significant progress to India. They say they taught India to grow tea, shared technologies and introduced the English language. On the other hand, my own experience of communication with representatives of the Asian countries booming in recent years shows that a younger generation of entrepreneurs and politicians of Asia has some feeling that the West formed its European and democratic values by sucking for centuries the resources from the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America," emphasized Mr. Levichev. An element of this deep historical hurt contributed (among other things) in expansion of the Islamic radicalism which is posing a general threat to the world civilization, in principal. "Our generation is entrusting you our planet at the moment which is unique from the point of view of history. Now we are not interested any more in telling you anything, we are much rather interested in getting to know your thoughts about the prospects of the international community, the Asian continent (in general) and in particular, India with which Russia expects to strengthen bilateral relations and the ones in the BRICS format. This organization might play a significant role in preservation of a polycentric world," the parliamentarian emphasized. In conclusion, Nikolai Levichev recognized that despite his work at the State Duma Committee on International Affairs and supervision of parliamentary links with the countries of the Asian and Pacific Ocean region, he had not get a chance (even once) to visit India. "We haven’t got any invitation from the parliament of India yet. That’s why I decided to change the situation on my own: I am going on a private visit to India in a week’s time," he said. Alexander Romanovich (in his turn) told the members of the Indian delegation in details about the basic principles of the RF election system and work of the State Duma. He also answered the questions relating to both the domestic affairs in the Russian Federation and the conflict in Ukraine. Alexey Spivakov told the delegation members about his special relations with India which he had already been over twenty times, having travelled through the length and breadth of the country. "First of all, our nations are united by their inner state. Both Russia and India are distinguished by their inner human kindness. As for the western culture, reaching of success by any means is of the greatest significance in it. But for Russia, it of highly importance not to make other people suffer on your way to success," emphasized Mr. Spivakov.
