Victor Shudegov: "Granting Ukraine a status of a USA military partner will constitute a serious danger to Russia" 28 июля 2014 Victor Shudegov, Deputy Chairman of the RF State Duma Committee on Education and a member of the Central Council of Party A JUST RUSSIA made comments on Kiev’s aspiration to be granted a status of a USA major non-NATO ally: Of course, granting Ukraine a status of a USA major military ally will constitute a serious danger to Russia because it is connected with a further provision of Ukraine with up-to-date armaments, equipment and ammunition. As a result, the radical nationalists who are in power in Kiev now will acquire more confidence about the support of the West. Feeling constantly such support, they will continue to break international law with regard to Russia and the civilians of the south-east, arrange provocations at the border and against some people, including representatives of the press. Even now the Ukrainian militants are crudely violating the international agreements, in particular prohibition on the use of the cluster and phosphorus bombs. Having no consideration for anyone, they ‘wipe off’ settlements from the face of the Earth. It is actually possible to say they practice a ‘scorched-earth’ tactics that was widely used during World War II. It is unconditional that Russia must be ready for a possible strengthening of the Ukrainian army and be able to give a tough answer to any shot and provocation at Russia, to any attempts of aggression on the part of the Ukrainian militants.
