Sergei Mironov about possibility of a dialogue between Ukraine and Russia 04 августа 2014 Sergei Mironov, Chairman of Party A JUST RUSSIA and the Head of the State Duma party faction made a statement about the necessity to put an end to the military operation and start a constructive dialogue between Ukraine and Russia: Being a citizen and a Russian politician, I declare with a full responsibility that there is going a civil war in Ukraine. The people who came to power in Kiev call this war an antiterrorist operation but it does not help to devoid the people in Donbas of a chance to get under an intense fire or air strikes at any moment. Neither saves it the Ukrainian military men from the shots of the militants of the Lugansk and Donetsk Republics. The war has already been going on for half a year, and it is measured by dozens of the destroyed cities, thousands of the dead, wounded and displaced people. The talks of politicians and the statements they make about the necessity to stop the military operation still remain nothing but "words" while bitterness amongst the civilians as well as the number of victims are growing day after day. We can daily feel resonance of this war here, in Russia. A mutual centuries-old history of our two nations, our common traditions and values cannot leave anyone in Russia indifferent to the Ukrainian tragedy. We perceive with pain the targeted propaganda of the Ukrainian state information agencies depicting Russia as an aggressor and the Russian people as the enemies of Ukraine. Search for a foreign enemy is a standard method used by any dysfunctional government to distract the public attention from the real causes of the problems and shift responsibility for their failures to someone else. I hope hatred for the Russians will never find place in the hearts of the Ukrainians because it is unthinkable for us in Russia to imagine the Ukrainians as a non-fraternal nation. I am totally convinced it will never happen. The Ukrainian and the Russian people have been historical neighbors. We are separated by the border but destined to be beside each other. Our successful future is impossible without a mutual good neighborhood and a reliable partnership. The right to decide what kind of future it will be belongs to our nations. At present, at this very moment it is necessary for the Ukrainian authorities not only to stop the bloodshed but also the war. A JUST RUSSIA is ready for a dialogue with any political force and public organization of Ukraine which is really interested in putting an end to the fratricidal war. It is only the dialogue, a sincere talk and readiness to hear a different point of view that might help to bring peace to the Ukrainian land.
