Alexander Romanovich: Poroshenko has not stopped bloodshed in his own country 09 èþíÿ 2014 State Duma deputy Alexander Romanovich, the Secretary of the Presidium of the Central Council on International Affairs of Party A JUST RUSSIA made comments on Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s inaugural speech. On June 07, Ukraine got another "revolutionary" president who is more likely to look like an amateurish musician (as well as a succession of the past presidents) trying to play somewhat better but being unable to perform anything good. Poroshenko pretentiously uttered in his "throne address" that "European democracy for him is "the best form of government invented by mankind." Therefore, he must understand that the contents of inaugural speeches of the western leaders must be different from a standard piece of propaganda and include not only serious program statements but what is more important, the statements must be realistic. Poroshenko categorically declared ‘European choice’ of Ukraine, and that the Ukrainian nation "returns to its great European homeland it has been torn off." But in reality, the choice shall be deserved, to be more precise, it must be earned. As for this, things in Ukraine are far from being good. As the new president clarified, ‘the people of Ukraine must learn how to live being free, well off, in peace and security’ which is supposed to be done not according to their own guides but in compliance with the "Agreement with the European Union on political association and a free trade area". Poroshenko is sure that it is the document that has everything. Moreover, as he said, he has already a pen in his hand to sign this 'fateful document’ which (according to his words) he dreams to make real. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to dream. Thank God, the new-made President still had enough courage to specify that only Ukraine’s desire is not enough for doing it: the European Union has yet to make the corresponding decision. There is also a rather long way before another Ukrainian dream comes true: introduction of a visa-free regime with the EU. Here it is necessary to finish several stages of consideration for Ukrainians to be able to travel to Europe without visas starting from January 2015, as Poroshenko promises them. And again another question rises here, the one regarding readiness of Europe to solve this problem in practice, concerning the country with a large number of weaponry scattered around it, and in fact, with a civil war on... Here we have come to the most expected step the President who is now also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was awaited to make but unfortunately didn’t: Poroshenko did not give an order about cease-fire, neither did he stop the military operation which means bloodshed still continues in his own country. Instead, he switched off to amnesty, ‘controlled corridor for Russian mercenaries’ and ‘a peace dialogue’ which is going to be rather specific as it won’t be the one with people who really stand up for their rights in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions at present (who Poroshenko calls "shooters", "Abwehr", "demons" and other evil spirits) but the dialogue with "peaceful citizens of Ukraine..." Moreover, these citizens have not been chosen yet. As it turned out, Poroshenko needs "a legitimate partner for the dialogue". "We will not speak to bandits," he said. "Acting local deputies do not represent anyone there already. We are ready to declare early local elections in the Donbas. This is my peaceful plan for the Donbas and the whole country." A little is left to do: to implement this plan. But how can it be done after heavy weapons and bombs used against the peaceful population and a stream of refugees to Russia? Poroshenko gives no explanation. Keeping with the best soviet and obkom (regional party committees) traditions, he casts the blame for the current Ukrainian disaster and trouble on everyone and everything but for himself. Yanukovich shall be blamed for the economic collapse. ‘The war in the Ukrainian Donbas was planned and unleashed’ by someone’. Russia occupied Crimea. An illegitimate character of Kiev’s authorities is nothing but wrongful accusations of the Russian propaganda. Poroshenko’s speech causes a strange feeling that inside Ukraine nobody has ever had any relation to anything. Some strange mean fellows put everything up and made a mess. There was neither forcible seizure of power nor military suppression of the dissentient by the army. It is not by chance that Russian President Vladimir Putin said: "Russia is nor participating in the conflict. Negotiating parties should not be Russia and Ukraine but Kiev authorities and supporters of federalization in the east." The President of Russia whom the western hawks try and fail to accuse of the Ukrainian crisis is not hiding from anyone, he is not afraid of a dialogue with any western leader. Putin is sure about being right and about the correct position of Russia demanding an immediate stop of bloodshed in Ukraine. By the way, the celebration in Normandy of the 70th anniversary of the allied invasion of Europe showed that just on the contrary, some western rulers felt discomfort talking to Putin because the Russian President has all the grounds to point at their indecent role in escalation of the situation in Ukraine.
