Alexander Romanovich delivered a speech at the meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly 15 мая 2014 Alexander Romanovich, a State Duma deputy of the A JUST RUSSIA Party faction, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee delivered a speech at the meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Ankara. Having greeted the meeting, Alexander Romanovich expressed gratitude to the host party the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on behalf of the Russian delegation for a warm welcome and a perfect arrangement of the representative forum. The Russian Deputy emphasized the importance and relevance of the meeting taking place in Turkey, and then performed the mission the State Duma entrusted him with: Mr. Romanovich brought before his colleagues from the countries of Asia "The address to the parliaments of the world and international parliamentary organizations over the threat of a humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine". Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee drew a special attention of the meeting participants to the numerous facts of violence of the basic human rights in Ukraine. He also expressed his hope that the address to all parliaments of the world to do everything in their power to help stop the violence in Ukraine will also resonate with the Asian parliamentarians. In his speech, the State Duma representative also put forward the proposals of the Russian delegation relating to the draft resolution of the meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs, in particular, the ones concerning "call for the world community to observe the principles of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to develop friendly relations between the countries based on respect of the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples". The Russian speaker also offered to appeal to the world parliamentarians to do everything in their power to help stop the mass violence and prevent humanitarian catastrophes in Asia and its neighboring countries because everything the above-mentioned poses a threat to peace and security in the region.
