Nikolay Levichev on the air of TV Channel LifeNews 13 мая 2014 "The State Duma passed the Address to the International Parliamentary Organizations all over the world which states that things are quickly coming to the crash of Ukrainian statesmanship, and there is an urgent need to set up a contact group," said Nikolay Levichev. A JUST RUSSIA offers to do it at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, first of all, so that to stop the bloodshed because "the Ukrainian leadership" refusing obstinately to listen to anything coming from the East but hanging on every prompt from the West continues a reprisal raid". Nikolay Levichev marked that the will of the people was expressed at the referendums in Donetsk and Lugansk against the background of the collapse of Ukrainian statesmanship, combat operations and military provocations on the part of the self-declared authorities in Kiev, and the whole world may fully realize it. "The south-east of Ukraine is nothing but a territory for the Kiev Junta, but for us, first of all, it is the people," emphasized the politician.. Concerning the presidential elections planned by Kiev on May 25, Nikolay Levichev stressed that people must realize that they are going to elect not just the definite person but the way of development he proposes for getting out of the catastrophic situation Ukraine has been losing itself in day by day. "We intend to use the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly as the basis for calling the contact group on the Ukrainian issue," said the deputy. "We hope the contact group members will submit their wishes by May 25 so that in future it would be possible to seek consensus over solution of the problems of Ukraine." Making comments on the decision of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions to apply to the UN with a request to acknowledge their independence, the parliamentarian answered that in his opinion, their prospects to get a positive answer are rather poor. "The referendum indicated what an overwhelming majority of the population of these two regions want," stressed Nikolay Levichev. "Now it is necessary to deal with the self-organizing processes to single out a set of people who will be able to act as trustworthy representatives of these subjects on the international arena. The people’s leaders currently have little representativity, by the UN standards. The two regions need the new bodies having the mandate of people's trust". In conclusion of the talk, the parliamentarian marked that despite various examples of people’s self-determination and existence of both acknowledged and unacknowledged republics on the political arena, it seems hardly possible to predict the development of events.
