Oleg Nilov: it is our duty to stop genocide against the Russian people in Ukraine 13 мая 2014 Speaking on behalf of the A JUST RUSSIA Duma faction during a morning ten-minute opinion exchange between factions in the State Duma, Oleg Nilov called his colleagues to adopt the legislative initiatives aimed at support of the veterans, to start intense preparations for celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory and to bring to court the Odessa torturers and the chasteners of the south-east of Ukraine; he addressed the foes of Russia by singing a couplet of folk song "Black Raven". May 9th is a national holiday that must be talked about every day, especially ahead of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In this regard, I’d like to congratulate you again on the Victory Day! Celebration of the Victory Day was solemn and massive like never before. This holiday embodies the triumph of the Truth and Justice which resulted in return of Crimea and Sevastopol – the Hero City, the City of Military Glory. It has been appraised by the whole nation. The 70th anniversary of the Victory lies ahead, and a special organizing committee on its celebration has been set up. In this connection, Segei Evgenievich (Narishkin S.E. –Chairman of the State Duma) I’d like to offer to establish a committee (it might even be an unofficial one but of an extremely high significance) ) on the celebration of its forthcoming jubilee. I’d even propose you to head it; it might also include the leaders of all factions. There is a set of problems that (as I think) we can’t but solve by 70th anniversary. Of course, it is commemoration work. We must do our best to take care of the obelisks and grave-stones no matter if there are still relatives or not. We have an opportunity to involve the Government, the municipal authorities and the military commissariats on a mandatory basis in this work. Moreover, the companies in the area of memorial service in Russia must do everything to maintain the tombs of veterans of the Great Patriotic War in good condition. Wherever a veteran lives, he must get an opportunity to go easily and free of charge to any area of Russia, Ukraine, Byelorussia and, maybe, even the countries of Eastern and Western Europe to visit the tombs of his friends, the former battle places and to go along the roads of war. We have possibility to take care of it in advance and solve all the financial and visa problems. We can’t put off adoption of the law about the children of war. All the factions have made attempts to provide additional social protection for this category of citizens. Again has A JUST RUSSIA proposed the corresponding draft law but still nobody pays attention to it. I find it inadmissible not to adopt the law about the children of war in the year of 70th anniversary of the Victory. I’d like to mention for your reference the following: such a law is already in force in Ukraine. Thousands of children of war in Crimea and Sevastopol are left without an additional social support and protection of this kind. Once the Government hears these proposals, it starts repeating the same words "we haven’t got money". I offer the Government even not to voice these words now. The State Duma has had a packet of draft laws that may fill the government coffers not with billions of rubles but even with trillions. Among them there is a draft law on progressive tax, wealth tax, monopolization of manufacturing of ethyl alcohol and tobacco products etc. up to the draft law on confiscation of property of embezzlers of State property and corrupt officials. It is here where we can find these billons and trillions of rubles that shall be used for solution of the problems faced by veterans, children of war and the home front workers. I can’t but tell you about the tragedy that has overshadowed all the holidays since Easter. The first of May and the Victory Day were turned into funeral feasts for hundreds and thousands of people of the Russian world. Day and night we had been following the events in Ukraine as if they were the front-line messages. The main mandate my (as well as your) electors gave me is to stop genocide against the Russian and other people in Ukraine who disagree with the authorities that took the decision about joining the NATO and the European Union without any coordination with anyone. Now they say little is left to be done: "We have made the decision to change the course, and you should select "the steersman". Dear supervisors, you have taken the wrong end! First, let the people make up their mind about the Constitution. Let them elect the Parliament, hold the referendum to determine the course where to go and who to go with, which holidays to celebrate, and only then you will elect the executive power, your "steersman": either the president or the chairman of the Parliament. But the main thing is the court that must punish all the torturers of Odessa, all the chasteners of the south-east of Ukraine. The list of these people shall be published. They shall be called to account sooner or later. Israel has already gained a proper experience in this sphere, and we should use it. No one shall avoid retaliation: neither a torturer nor a chastener. Europe even dislikes our songs, our girls because they have plaits but not beards. I was not going to do it but I have to devote a couplet of our folk song (as the Eurovision showed last year, both the Europeans and the Americans like folk songs) to these dark forces that ganged up against the Russian world, the Russian culture and history, our monuments and holidays. "Black raven, black raven, Why are you hovering above? You won’t get your prey, Black raven, I’m not yours. If it is not enough, I’d offer to sing a Cossack song "Cossacks in Berlin" in honor of 70th anniversary of the Victory at the next "Eurovision" song competition. Moreover, it should be sung by a Cossack Chorus with its singers on the horsebacks and with the swords in their hands. You may read a complete version of the speech here.
