Mikhail Emelyanov: "The President has the right to take all measures to protect the interests of the Russian-speaking people in the Crimea." 01 марта 2014 "A JUST RUSSIA thinks that the Russian President has the right and duty to protect compatriots in the Crimea and Ukraine," declared Mikhail Emelyanov, the deputy head of the A JUST RUSSIA Duma faction. "We believe the RF President must take all measures to protect the interests of the Russian-speaking people of the country living not only in the Crimea but in Ukraine as well. Moreover, the President possesses the right to do it," said Mr. Emelyanov. According to him, faction A JUST RUSSIA is really worried about the situation in Ukraine. "To our regret, the events that took place at night (February 22-23) when the radical nationalist forces ousted the legitimate authorities forced the events to unfold according to quite a different (not peaceful) scenario. The situation is getting worse and worse. Our special concerns are connected with the situation in the Crimea where the radical nationalist groups have been making attempts to destabilize the situation," said Mr. Emelyanov. The parliamentarian expressed his hope that Kiev has enough good sense to realize that Federation is the only form of a stable state structure of Ukraine. "The authorities in Ukraine must offer a constitutional reform aimed at it," believes the deputy. He reminded that the deputies of faction A JUST RUSSIA introduced two bills into the State Duma that are aimed at simplification of the procedure of obtaining Russian citizenship by the citizens of Ukraine and regulation of admission of foreign state’s part to Russia. We’d like to remind that the Duma Council adopted an appeal to RF President Vladimir Putin to take measures aimed at stabilization of the situation in the Crimea and use all the variety of possibilities to protect the people in the Crimea against lawlessness and violence.
